Junior Kapa Haka

On Thursday the juniors get together for Kapa Haka with Whaea Donna.
We love it and we are getting pretty good at our repertoire.

Cross Country

On Wednesday we had our school cross country.
We had all been practicing hard for weeks and were pleased to be doing our races at last.
It was a wonderful afternoon and we all did our very best.
The fastest in each age group will go to the cluster cross country next week.
These are our cup winners.

WAIOURU ARMY MUSEUM

On Tuesday the whole school went to Waiouru to the Army Museum.
We had a fantastic day there.
Our guide told us many interesting things and we learned so much. We were also able to show him how much we already knew about ANZACs and the two world wars.
We used the new ipods to take lots of photos and movies.

Kick It 2

We have enjoyed our Kick it sessions this week.
Our favourite games are 'Trucks and Trailers' and 'Ghostbusters'.
In 'Trucks and Trailers' we have a partner, sometimes we have to stay close together (like a truck and its trailer), sometimes we have to try to escape from our 'trailer' and create a big gap between us.
It is great fun and helps us to practice our football skills.

Cooperative Learning

For our Inquiry Rooms 1 and 2 often work together in Cooperative Learning groups.
Each group member has a special role to play: Recorder; Time-keeper; Materials Manager; Participation Officer; Noise Controller etc.
The whole group needs to work together to complete the task on time!

Kahurangi Cultural Group

On Friday we were entertained by the fantastic Kahurangi Cultural Group.
They took us on the journey of the early Maori settlers, from Tahiti to Hawaii, Samoa and finally New Zealand.
For each place on the journey we learned a greeting, something about that place and enjoyed watching a traditional dance.
Tahiti.

Hawaii

Samoa

New Zealand Maori

Mr Taylor, Keagan and Matthew were chosen to be Maori warriors, watch our photostory of them in action.
